What the 1.5% payment fee actually costs you

Passly charges £14.99 per instructor per month, plus a flat 1.5% on lesson payments your pupils make through the platform, on top of standard Stripe processing fees. Both numbers are published here rather than revealed at sign-up, because the fee on your lesson money is usually the larger of the two and it is the figure this market is least open about.

A worked example for a solo instructor at the standard price. On £30,000 of lesson takings a year, the 1.5% fee is £450 and the subscription is £179.88, so Passly costs about £630 a year in total. For comparison, a platform charging 1.9% on the same takings costs £570 in fees alone, and a marketplace taking 25% commission would cost £7,500. Any competitor that does not publish its payment fee should be asked for the number in writing before you move your money across.

You are not charged for the things some platforms bill separately: your marketplace listing and public profile, the leads that come through them, the embeddable booking widget, lesson and payment reminders, prepaid credits and discounts, CSV exports, and every school feature. There is no setup fee, no per-pupil charge on the paid plan, and no charge for cancelling.

Pricing questions

How much does Passly cost?

£14.99 a month for your first instructor and £8.99 a month for every instructor after that, with every feature included and no tiers. A solo instructor pays £14.99, a three-car school £32.97 and a five-car school £50.95. There is a 14-day free trial and no card is required to start. New instructors can enter code LAUNCH50 at checkout for 50% off the first three months, which is £7.50 for a solo instructor. Lesson payments taken through Passly carry a flat 1.5% fee on top of standard Stripe processing fees.

Is Passly free?

There is a free option and a paid one. Listing your business on the Passly marketplace is free: you get a professional profile that is visible in search, and you pay only for leads you accept. The full software, meaning the diary, pupil management, online booking, card payments and progress tracking, is £14.99 a month for your first instructor and £8.99 for each one after, following a 14-day free trial. On the paid plan, marketplace leads are included at no extra charge.

What is the 1.5% fee charged on?

Only on lesson payments your pupils make through Passly. It is charged on top of standard Stripe processing fees, and it does not apply to cash or bank transfers you record manually. On £30,000 of annual lesson takings the fee comes to £450.

How does pricing work for a driving school?

Your first instructor is £14.99 a month and every instructor after that is £8.99, so a three-car school is £32.97, a five-car school £50.95 and a ten-car school £95.90. School features are included rather than sold as a higher tier. Only teaching instructors count as seats, and seats adjust automatically as your team changes.

Is there a contract or a minimum term?

No. There is no contract and no minimum term, and you can cancel yourself in a couple of clicks rather than by writing in. You can export your pupils, lessons and payments as CSV at any time, free, including after you decide to leave.

Do I need to pay for a card reader or setup?

No. There is no setup fee and no hardware to buy. Card payments run through Stripe, which you connect from inside Passly, and pupils pay from their own phone or computer.

How does Passly's price compare with other driving instructor apps?

At £14.99 for a single instructor, Passly is level with GoRoadie Pro at £15 and undercuts Total Drive (£18 to £26), MyDriveTime (£19) and DriveSchoolPro (£22). Where it pulls ahead is schools: additional instructors are £8.99 each, so a three-car school is £32.97 against MyDriveTime's £45 and Total Drive's £54 to £78. ADI Network is free. Prices were checked on 26 July 2026 and the full breakdown is on our comparison page.
